 March 26th Meeting

People start to filter in for the meeting

We had our March meeting of the Saint John Stamp Club on Wednesday March 26th. As usual, it was a lot of fun. 13 people attended, about 8 fewer than January and February.
We had a short business meeting where we approved the minutes from the last two meetings and discussed upcoming stamp and coin shows (April 5th in Fredericton, June 1st at the Delta in Saint John, and September at the West Side Legion).
We also discussed this site/blog, how we can use it and what can go on it.
David Williams filled us in on how tariffs might affect the Stamp Trade. There was general discussion about that and about Canada Post going into the Banking business.
After that we had the 50/50 draw. Jim Jennex won that. Jim Young won the attendance draw. Next was the quiz. These are prepared by Jim Jennex and he generously donates the prizes (stamps) for it. This month's winner was Richard Elliott with 9 out of 10 answers correct. There were several people with 8 and 7 answers correct. They also received prizes.
Next we had the regular auction. There was an interesting selection of stamps and other items donated by members.

Jim Young led an entertaining auction. Here is a clip from it:

I need to get proficient at taking shorter videos, this was the only one small enough to upload!

All in all another enjoyable meeting/evening.  Here are some of the goodies I bought in the auction:

Red Tin full of stamps, mostly Canadian with some other countries as well and a lot of very attractive stamps!

Here they are spread out a bit:

This blue box was packed full of Russian Stamps, both Soviet era and Pre-Soviet:

I had a great time and hope to see you all next month!
